The men’s selectors have confirmed their programme for the run up to the Toro Interprovincial, to be hosted by North Shore Golf Club, in the first week of December.
The calendar of designated events, including two representative fixtures, covers virtually every weekend from the end of August through to mid-November.
The addition of a 72 hole open tournament, in Queenstown during September, is seen as a positive by the selectors. With the well established 72 hole North Otago Spring Open and the re-scheduling of the Taieri Classic to the middle of October, there are now three strong tests of stamina and concentration levels.
The selectors will leave it to the trial players themselves to decide how many events each individual wishes to enter, but they do hold the view that “more is better”.
Senior and Age Group selectors for 2013, unchanged from 2012, are Ben Gallie and Greg Johnson, with Michael Smith joining Murray Edgar to select the Masters teams.
Colin Cowie continues in the role of schoolboys selector assisted by Michael Smith as part of Michael’s junior development role.
