The Golf Otago Board has introduced a “Player Contribution” levy, to take affect immediately on all representative fixtures.
It was not a decision taken lightly, but the withdrawal of all travel support funding by NZ Golf has left a hole that cannot be filled from current income streams. The reality is a choice between withdrawing from some rep fixtures or players making a contribution (or both).
The player contributions will be reviewed at the end of 2015 and any changes deemed necessary will be implemented with the 2016 budget.
The four main inter-provincials run in a sequence of two in the North Island, followed by One in the South. The NZG funding withdrawal will mean Otago must find in excess of $40,000.00 more than the upper North Island cluster of districts per fixture for the 14 year rotation.
