Cromwell lead the 2018 Central Otago Inter-club series with two rounds remaining in the season.
The 6th round was played at Lake Hawea on Saturday and, not surprisingly, the local team took full advantage of the home turf venue to win the days honours. Lake Hawea scored a team total of 342, 8 shots clear of Wanaka, with Cromwell a further 8 back on 358.
That means Cromwell take a 9 stroke lead into the final two rounds, to be played at Millbrook and Queenstown.
Queenstown are currently in third place and, although they are 18 shots out of the lead, with home advantage for the final round, they are still in the race.
The remaining teams would appear to be too far back to threaten the leaders, but golf is a strange game.
