Otago topped pool B and will play Wellington in the final of the junior interprovincial golf tournament on the Cambridge course in Waikato this morning.
Otago whitewashed Waikato 6-0 yesterday morning and romped home 5-1 over Manawatu-Whanganui in the afternoon.
But the large winning margins do not tell the entire story as there were some anxious moments in both contests.
In the morning, Otago was 3-3 against the home team with No1 Jack Turner and No2 Hayden Robertson three-down and two-down respectively.
But the team showed character with Robertson winning the last four holes for a 1-up win while Turner won three of the final four holes.
In the afternoon, Otago was on the back foot early with the withdrawal of No4 Parker Aluesi with a sore back gifting Manwatu-Whanganui the game.
But the remaining five players dug deep, posting five good wins to ensure top place in pool B with 10 points and 24.5 games.
The top trio are unbeaten with No3 Callum Judkins on target to be the player of the tournament having won all five games
Turner and Robertson have each won four games and had one half going into the final round this morning.
