The 2018 Central Otago Inter-club competition is heading down to the wire with Wanaka regaining the lead from Cromwell in the penultimate round, played at Millbrook on Saturday 13th October.
With one round to play, Wanaka hold a 9 stroke lead over Cromwell, with Queenstown a further 20 shots back in third place.
20 strokes can be picked up (or lost) in a single round of this stroke-play teams event. Indeed, Wanaka made up exactly that many shots on Cromwell at the weekend, but the chances of Queenstown gathering in a 29 stroke lead in the final round look remote.
The final round looks like being a two-team shootout, between Wanaka and Cromwell with only a complete meltdown by both teams giving Queenstown any chance of snatching the title on their home track.
