The penultimate day at the 2018 Freyberg Masters has brought little joy to the Otago team, recording two loses and placing them firmly at the bottom of the table.

The afternoon loss to a strong Canterbury team was expected, but the morning round against regular cellar dwellers, Poverty Bay/East Coast, should have provided Otago their best chance of a win during the week-long fixture.

Otago have a bye this morning and will play their final round against Taranaki in the afternoon.

Taranaki sit at the foot of the table and an Otago win could still elevate the team into a respectable position at the end of the event.
