The 2021 Men’s Otago Champion of Champions were played in perfect conditions on Sunday at North Otago GC. The course was in good winter condition with the greens running like Augusta National making for some interesting putts at time for everyone.
In the Nett Stableford section the local North Otago GC team of Roger Gilchrist, Ivan Johnston and Eugene Conradie made the most of local knowledge combining for a total of 97 to win by 1 shot from Tokarahi and Tapanui in 3rd.
North Otago’s Johnston led the way for this team with 37 points and was the leading player in the nett section.
The Gross Stableford section was won by the defending champs from the Otago Golf Club, Tom Lee, Oliver Smith and Jerry Pearse-Smith. North Otago and Queenstown GC tied for second 7 shots back.
Tom Lee had the best round of the day with 38 gross stableford points helping the Balmacewen Team to victory.
Otago Golf Club is celebrating its 150th Anniversary this year and North Otago are in their 130th year, amazing slice of New Zealand golfing history.
